What is the official word?
I don’t know what else you could say that isn’t three paragraphs long.
Good to know! Thanks for the info!
The problem in Made in China is usually:
- the buyer want to have the lowest price
- there is no real QC
If you take care of the 2 above mentioned point, the quality can be very good.
To stay in the SSim racing/ flight sim, my Virpil and VKB products have a very good quality.
That I can’t tell you, you would have to ask your governmental import agency.
And they usually speak in “class” for the import of the goods.
They may however have said “China tax” but that just denote their personal/ political view on this topic. And they should not be allowed to state on that in a democratic republic.
Agreed.
The Mige motor is made in China and is top notch!
I don’t argue politics, so that is definitely not where I am coming from.
That tax is a tax on many goods from a specific country. I looked at the list a few years ago it includes many many products
I didn’t know that. At least there’s no 3 month waiting time to get one.
Ok let’s get this thread back to “The best place to get SC2 in Canada”
We went a bit off the rails. And yes part of it is my fault.
All good! I see that you are a good man!
And we all learned something here !
Redacted announced today they’re carrying them. Best hurry. I just ordered.
*I’ve removed reference to the retailer. I find it in poor taste that some people are choosing to post his name and insinuate that he somehow came on here to post an add.
Advanced Sim Racing announced today they’re carrying them. Best hurry. I just ordered.
(joined 1 hour ago. Only one post. This one !) Great ad!
Look at the post of the OP:
How is this not advertisement? Do you care to even provide a link to the source?
Is this Marc-André?
Prices for consumer electronics were and still are way lower than in the EU, between 10 to even 20%.
The shopping tourism you mention was/is mostly about food and gasoline. VAT is 7.7% and 2.3 for food like fruits, vegetables Aso. Just to clarify that what you mentioned is true but not for products you refer to
I ordered one a few hours ago, joined the forum and this post was near the top. Posted in case anyone was looking as the other retailer mentioned has significantly higher pricing and also added high handling fees. I skipped a Simucube for a VRS wheel due to this.
If you don’t live in Canada, you may not understand the excitement of seeing a Canadian retailer offer a product at a reasonable price (and avoiding exorbitant customs fees). When I saw the post, I presumed someone was asking where to buy one.
I would guess most retailers aren’t interested in making fake accounts to post products that are selling out immediately regardless. Maybe you know something I don’t. If that’s suspect for you, sorry.
If my post was somehow against the rules, a moderator can let me know and I’ll delete the post.
If not, I hope the community here is less accusatory than this gentleman.
Strange statement as you seem to be living in Switzerland…You should know actually how bad it was…
I lived in Switzerland (in Kanton Schwyz) and the “shopping tourism” was not only about food and gasoline…Almost all products were cheaper in Germany, France or Italy compared to Switzerland, so clothes, car parts, cars, cutlery, bikes, motorcycles, etc…even toilet paper!
Electronics used to be way more expensive in Switzerland than in Germany etc…but some manufacturers/ retailers adapted their pricing because of so many people buying these in Germany etc…(only exception are iPhones which were cheaper in Switzerland for a long time already)
I don’t know which car you drive but look at the pricing in Europe vs. Switzerland !
And this is a product that most people don’t buy outside Switzerland…Hence the pricing in Switzerland…
You should have read the thread before writing your post…
The retailer that you mentioned was already mentioned by the OP…
Together with his comparison with DM/ Europe.
Hence the decision of the OP to buy from DM/ Europe.
Your post sounded indeed like an ad
If it was not, you would have saved CAD$342 from buying from DM/ Europe like the OP.
It may have sounded like an ad but it’s not. I was on coffee break so didn’t have time to scan the entire ad. I see it now, thanks.
Retail I paid was $2099 for Simucube 2 Pro. Free shipping.
DM’s price with shipping to me was $1300 euros (great price), but I’m not convinced it’s much cheaper to my location after adding GST, PST, customs and brokerage. If OP got it for under $1900CAD, everything included, that’s some feat!
In any event I would prefer to deal with a Canadian retailer, even for a few bucks more, in case of issues with returns.
Ok no problem! You saw my smilies on my post I hope !
I was also worried with possible return problems in case of warranty issues but I figured out that the Simucube has a very good quality (used for industrial purposes normally). That was also why I bought a Simucube and not a Fanatec one year ago.
As stated earlier, I almost exclusively buy very good quality products so that I almost never have to deal with customer services or warranty issues…
I’m from Luzern. As mentioned is true but not for consumer electronics. The fact sheet I provided is from 2019 but describes the situation for the last decade. Almost all is expensive but on the other hand the average salary is around 7’000 US dollars (net) after deduction of pension, unemployment Aso. And the maximum tax is at 35 to 40% (for taxable incomes higher than 600’000 dollars).
Car prices are different because they include so called Swiss packets. Free service for 6 years or 120’000 kilometres, different interior. Is a high price country, of course. But is almost no country you have to work less to buy a Big Mac
From BC as well. I understand that the low post count looked suspect but I assure you it’s not (not that this carries any weight). I have zero affiliations with any retailer. I’ll endeavour not to attempt posts with a few minutes left on my coffee break, but I was damn excited to get a Simucube Pro 2 and wanted to share.
