SimuCUBE Open Source Firmware Development Update Thread

Thanks for your responce Mika. I have asked the question also at s397 forum and i seem to be the only one struggling so could well be on my side and not even firmware related.

Haha SimonJā€¦akaā€¦great what json did you start off with. Gonna make a fresh one tonight

Aplain ffb settings from post above
I Started with this file  put Aplains ffb setting into it

My OSW json is in that thread as well, iā€™m running small Mige (10k encoder) and have been using rF2 for hours without any strange issues regarding the ffb, did not change my json when switched to the new firmware

I have tried the simtechracing one as well but liked my own better.

My simucube settings are similar to Simon_Jones

Thatā€™s what I had envisaged. A potentiometer to adjust power and a rotary encoder for reconstruction filter. All adjustable without having to alt-tab out of the game.

Oh to dream

Bugfix release 0.8.4 is out.

Behind the scenes, work to implement effect support is going on.

Also, upcoming sometime (without a release date, but soon) is IONI firmware that should reduce the inductance noise issues.

grande Mika,e grazie

Inductance noise reduction would be great. Btw - what realistically is the difference with higher TBW?

Iā€™ll let Tero formulate it to his release notes when he releases the next Ioni firmware. Some Ioni beta testers have reported over 90% noise reduction, even at unlimited TBW.

90% on which servo ?

Akm53k, as reported by our Australian Test Monkey.

TBW higher - additional detail is NOT knocked off the top frequencies when the number is higherā€¦ So basically you will end up with more road detail and higher frequency detail.

That brings a question of how noise was decreased in firmwareā€¦ By filters? Wouldnā€™t it eliminate advantage of high tbw then.

In my case it has reduced the inductance noise/stray scratchy signal by >95%, perhaps even closer to 100%, as I cannot really detect any noise anymore - but my ears are already 50 years oldā€¦

Nothing wrong with my hands though, and the new IONI fw will be better in many respects, if anything, FFB feels better with even lower latency on the controller side, Mash.

Iā€™ve been testing these things for a very long time now and the upcoming IONI fw is definitely better than ever before.

Cheers,
Beano

noise reduction that influences TBW noice ? at 680hz and above ?

Yes, Seb - Tero is making changes to the IONI Controller FW, which is separate from the SimuCUBE FW Mika is developingā€¦

I am doing beta-testing on that and confirm very nice changes

My AKM servo also exhibited the inductance noise/scratchy feel above 680Hz, but with the beta fw, I can run 4700/unlimited, and noise is all but gone. Sensitive ears might still pick a very faint noise, I am not sure, but for me, it is very much eliminated.

Tero/Mika will share all changes later, as other things have been tuned tooā€¦

Cheers,
Beano

Sounds good i hope they can eliminate it totally! because the electrical noise KRRRRR when you turn the wheel, it sounds like its damaging / sparking inside.

what is actually going on inside? sparks ?
Because thatā€™s how it sounds.

Mika, Beano, I am really excited about that new ioni firmware :grinning:

Mika about my problem with rF2.
After many tests with jsons, new psu, simucube settings in fw i can report the following.

The recon filter causes my ffb to cut off. I know about the known issues with high recon settings ffb going numb/saturated. So my problem.is related i guess. If i turn recon off i can play for hours without loosing ffb. One more thing about this with recon on i have more problems when using latest tire tech cars in rf2 so gt3 dlc.

Hope this helps

Does the ffb cut of also induce a motor fault or something else? Does cycling e-stop fix the issue?
