Simucube 2 True Drive software feedback thread

We have seen one or two reports about this, but there has not been any way for us to repeat it. It isn’t happening on any of our test rigs at the office nor at home.

@Mika
Hi Mika,
can you try to investigate on Dinput Fx ?. Seems that all this FX don’t work anymore with games.
I can set it to 200 or 0 without any differences.
I mainly use iRacing ,acc but i like to play games like F1 , RR and Dirt but seems that dinput fx do nothing if set or not. now i’m trying RR to test if a particular games have issues.
sc2 Ultimate latest TD.

Update:

Its my fault. DInputs works but seems that the value set do not represent the actual supposed force/strength. seems that is not 1:1 but -1.2ish :1.

in short if i set 200 on Dinput damper seems that is set to 85

I’ve being saying that since the early days of SC2, dinput don’t work as they used to with old Simucube1. they don’t activate when they should or they do when they shouldn’t (eg. spring effect in Ams2).

Thats impossible as the code was exactly the same.

I might do that this coming week, as there has been some requests to revisit the DX damping and friction implementation also from some commercial partners.

However, we do not know any commercial game that would use the directinput effects at the moment. Even RaceRoom moved on in their FFB update last year. Expection are

  • AC damping uses directinput damper
  • ETS2/ATS uses spring and maybe damper. Except for they had also an update to their implementation, and we haven’t tested the new implementation yet
  • Dirt Rally 1 uses Friction which goes to 0 if car is not in contact with the road (jumps).

fair enough, but there must be a reason why effects that don’t appear as active still have some influence on the ffb…

They don’t.

  • ACC also uses directinput damper, recent update allows to have it even when car is moving, not only stationary
  • DR2 using friction just as DR1, but it’s buggy and makes wheel vibrate when enabled, not sure if it’s because of SC2 bug but it’s better to have it zeroed out.

Hi all,

Yes , very recent games uses recent features but old games still live. i have few games that is not officially
intended to use with Sc2, but with a good browser you can use even gt7 with SC. this games still use Dinput filters like Spring, Damper, Saw tooth etc.

Anyway , the bridge that i use to play unsupported games have some params that is set to 0 by default. when i set it to 1.000 Spring, Dampers etc works. i Use DiRT 4 and in TD i see that the game uses dinput filters.

@Mika , i want you try one of my profile , expecially the profiles for dw12, dallara indy
/ Pwr. steering etc. i use the notch filter to create more resistence/presence for tyre/mass movement and i like it, seems more direct and connected. obviously too much loose strength or result in strange feelings but try one :). you can implement a new feature based on the use of that filter like ( Direct Tyre FX / enhance mass weight ) or other fancy names.

What gets me is why directinput effects work on old games for every other wheel but not Simucube?

It doesn’t seem right.

Maybe it is a hack to get it to work but I think it should still work. Those effects were very valuable to have in games for ffb feeling.

Worst case is that GIMX can’t work as It should be because DI filters on SC2 are broken, so GIMX cannot emulate the G27 at 100%, not centering forces spring when FFb is playing is the worst ofender

If game commands a centering spring, then it works. There shouldn’t be any extra centering spring thing active according to any specifications for game controllers, its just strange invention to have such thing in the device driver.

It is a clever invention to allow some FFb games to have Constant spring when needed.
Or best case scenario, using Sega Am2 emus and Daytona USA, that arcade cabinet has a built in spring to center the wheel, apart of FFb Effect like Constant Left and Constant Right

hi all, since yesterday I am feeling the steer not as smooth as it used to be on a month old sc2 pro, the feeling can be felt very clearly on rapid direction changes in any sim I tried so far.
the best I can describe it is like having some sand in the wheel. I’m on the latest TD version, and it is present only with the unit powered on, otherwise it is smooth as normal so any motor issue can be ruled out. didn’t change anything in the pc, no win10 updates or anything. thanks.

edit : after more testing I can better describe the issue as the motor being a lot much noisier than before, and it can be felt very clearly in the ffb. any help would be appreciated, I really don’t feel like going through the ticket process for such a new unit, although it might be related to any kind of win10 problem, but I have no idea.

What is your reconstruction filter set to? Settings this too low results in feeling “sand in the wheel”.

3 in ACC works well and 5 in iRacing.

hi, I am using the same recon values as always and never had any problem until now…don’t think it’s caused by td settings

I ran out of options. changed usb cable, usb ports, deleted last win update, reinstalled sc2, td and also tried different td release, there’s always that feeling of “buzz” coming through the wheel. any help would be appreciated

finally solved it by clearing the list of connected wireless wheels and re-doing the connection for the f28-sc v2 ascher wheel. no idea why, but it worked.

Hello,
Could you detail how you did it, the deletion procedure please
Thank you

Can I export my profile from the TD Paddock, and how can I do that? I’m migrating to a new computer and want to migrate my profile to my new computer as well of course.

Thanks in advance.
