Simucube 2 True Drive software feedback thread

Leave everything else as is, set firstly Damping to zero, retest…then Friction, then Inertia…lastly, set all to Zero, then test, next Recon to 4, then to 5, 6, 7, 8, let’s see…the graininess around center can be reduced by Recon Filter at 8, alternatively, Slew Rate <0.5, the closer to 0.1 it goes, the smoother it gets around center, but also, the more rubbery things get…

In the tests above if you reduce either D, F or I to zero, I suspect you should feel more graininess. The moment you increase RF, it should reduce graininess.

Did test a lot of things. The only time it doesn’t feel grainy is when I turn off damping and friction in the DirectInput Effect Fine Tuning, which I had set to 15% before and turned damping, friction and inertia off. Couldn’t feel that changing the reconstruction filters did any difference to the grainy feeling.

turning damping and friction off in both constantly operating filters and in directinput effect fine tuning, makes the grainy feeling go away if I’m just in windows, but as soon as I drive in iracing, the grainy feeling comes back a bit.

(Did your tests Phillip, but it didn’t make the grainy feeling go away unless I just turned everything off)

Not sure if my rambling makes any sense…

Direct input effects not used in iRacing…if you set them all (DI input effects) to 100%?

Hi,

Didn’t know that, maybe that’s why I have never changed them.

The grainy feeling is still there with these settings, in iracing.

Now, leave things as is, change slew-rate to 0.5…

Oops, saw you gave it at 0.1 already. What if you add D, F and I all to 25%. The 3 under Other Filters…and use right arrow-keys to set those first 2 DI effect filters to 100%

im testing now with my Sport and DI filters are acting weird in iRacing

@Alfye: Yep, that was what I was trying to determine, based on some of jawee’s comments above…

Ok, im in game, if DI filters are active I can feel the grainy thing, but cant get rid of it. Only shortcut when filters are set to 0% is to Reset al FFB from theAdvanced Tab

Did some testing with slew rate 0.1, 0,5 and off. No difference, still grainy.

Did put D, F and I to 25% and the DI Effect filters to 100%, still grainy.

(If I turn into a slide, there’s no graining, but trying to counter-steer there is graining, but I guess that’s because I’m not trying to fight the wheel turning into the slide)

And this only around center, or right throughout the range?

Throughout the whole range.

Mmm…doesn’t make sense. Mika will have to investigate then with Tero, something amiss.

Both are extremely good in identifying underlying issues, so hang tight for a bit, I am 100% sure it will be resolved

It doesn’t really bother me when driving normally, but I just thought I would try to help get some input when I had the opportunity

Andy, we needed to test with Harry as the downgrade is not officially tested by us at all.

Update:

We tested the servo drive effects last night and could not feel or hear any difference in the sound the motor makes or the wheel position ripple when there were effects on.

Nothing was changed in FFB processing for directInput efffects in this firmware version, also those effects are not used anyway in iRacing nor on the desktop.

Investigations continue still.

Here are my settings:

ok Mika…

Reconstruction filter too low for iRacing

hello, I am noticing noise in the direction just by turning the steering wheel without entering the simulator, being in the true drive, when before it was silent.

In any case, this grain problem is not unique to iRacing. I have the same problem on ACC … I tried to set all the possible settings in True Drive to 0 each their turns, same thing. I tried to activate and deactivate the “resonance reduction”, same thing. I tried to go back to version 2020.01 of True Drive, same thing.
