Simucube 2 True Drive Paddock - Feedback and suggestions

Would it be possible to expose the api a bit so that someone could possibly write a simhub plugin for that usecase?

If we exposed such API, then we would also need to keep it and its documentation up-to-date.

And we would rely on 3rd party hobby project for a feature in our product.

This sounds great to me but I’m probably a minority xD

What kind of language are you using in the background?
There are already tools that generate documenations for the API.

Edit:
And you are already using Auth0. So should be easy to grant access.

Fix for this is now deployed.

Did you see the About and Licenses -window already?

There are a few reports of 2021.11 not detecting the wireless wheel module.
We thought we fixed it for 2021.12, but there might be another glitch that is happening.

Therefore, once I come back from spending some family time tomorrow, a beta release will be available:

Changes and fixes

  • Improve the bug fix in 2021.12 release - Fix rare fault where the wireless wheel receiver module is not detected on device start.
  • Improve servo drive tuning in Safe Torque Mode. This should eliminate unwanted resonation with some wheels with low inertia or loose parts.
  • Improve servo drive sinusoidal current generation smoothness.
  • Eliminate some audible noise glitches that appeared in some driving situations and when device goes to safe torque mode due to e.g. hands-off detection feature.
  • Change firmware code to not reset all profile settings to Safe Profile after firmware update.
  • Change firmware code to not force Resonance Reduction setting on after firmware update.
  • Add event log entries for illegal parameter write debugging purposes. Ilegal write can cause unxplained 485001 faults.

hi Mika, that keeps happening to me at the start of paddock : active profile x and selected profile y.

Hi all,

This can be considered a beta version, but it does have improvements and additions that can be of interest to some people.

also, there have been some suggestions on how to improve the Paddock profile ordering.

  • Leave it as it is now (latest used profile always moves to first slot
  • Reorder only when view is reloaded/opened
  • Manual reordering via drag&drop

Hello Mika,

With this version/hotfix I still have the issue of the wire wheel receiver. Right after I installed the version it was detected. But after a restart of the wheelbase it wasn’t anymore. So it seems like it issue isn’t fixed. (I have the R1/1st verison of the simucube 2 pro). So I reverted back to 2021.9.

Did you power off and back on many times to see if it was always not detected, or whether it is detected on some starts?

At first it was detected. After the first restart not anymore. I only restarted once.

I don’t have much time to race these days, so that made this version an instant no-go for me. But today I have some time, so I could try it again if you want.

I have identified another type of issue - as the system is multi threaded now on the device, system may reach the Operational state before the wireless wheel receiver has been initialized. However, True Drive doesn’t notice the wireless wheel receiver state being toggled after system has reached Operational state.

New beta will be out early next week…

Great! Have a nice Christmas.

I will be looking forward to the new beta.

Its just a hypothesis that would be confirmed if the wireless wheel tab becomes available just by closing (completely) and reopening True Drive.

When I launch paddock, the default of last used profile isn’t loaded. Do I do something wrong or is this a bug? It used to load the last loaded profile.

that’s happening the same to me at every start

Mika, would you mind adding me to the new beta? I have this week off work, and it sounds like some positive progress has been made on the wheelbase noise, which I’d love to check out!

Thanks!

Thanks Mika I missed that!
