iRacing and Simucube 2

By notchy, do you mean the leftovers from the 60Hz update rate and how the road detail is communicated in it?

Hi Mika.
By notchy, I mean free-play around center with harsh transition to feedback. I’ve tried applying zero to over 20% Friction and/or Damping / different Recon Filter levels and it doesn’t solve the issue. I don’t believe it’s an issue with the base nor the wheel hub, just seems like it’s in the game-ffb signal.

Too much Slew Rate maybe

Slew Rate = off
But thanks for the suggestion.

@Alfye20 probably meant the opposite, not enough slew filter applied. That will definitely contribute to the feeling around Center. See if you can drop slew to somewhere between 0.8 to 2.0. Also recon filter at maybe 3-5 and use damping, friction, intertia.

The only way to deal with iRacing’s 60hz signal, sadly.

Thank you, sir. I’ll give those settings a try.

And… What car? Or it does the same thing with any car?

The issue seems somewhat improved after implementing settings as suggested by @phillip.vanrensburg

The issue is present with all cars that I’ve tried although, much of my owned content is legacy (if that matters).

Hi fellow racers,

Not sure if this problem is related to Iracing or just in general. My ffb completely resets after I have a big impact or very fast change in ffb ( happend because very low dampening and let the steering wheel loose in the pits ) The way I can resolve this problem is by switching profile in the truedrive software. Anyone knows how I can disable this ‘feature’?

Hands off detection?

That’s a little mean  You could have also written where the feature is located…
TD, last icon=information, safety features, hands off detection sensitivity

Hands off detection automatically resumes normal high torque mode and there are always audible tones when it is being triggered and when the high torque is resumed.

Might it be that the whole device restarts? Do you hear the windows USB tones?

Regarding my last post:

This seems to be some kind of an USB issue. Or, if the device indeed restarts when it does this, then it is a power supply issue.

Geez what have they done now? GT3 FFB with my Simucube feels dead! (Yes I know this the SC2 section but the SC1 bit is very quiet)

All I am feeling now is dead weight with nothing in the center. Wish they released this patch before I re-subscibed with along with new tracks performing like arsseee I am not enjoying Iracing

not sure what is going on with you but I ran a gt3 today and it felt like pure magic

Did you disable the new FFB they implemented?
If not, you can do it in the INI file.

Little late here but this is where friction will be your friend to get a “grounding feel” the issue of lightness around center comes due to the FFB signals hovering around 0% then when it moves off center it wants to correct so it applies what it thinks is needed… Using friction here is sort of like having a min-force but not exactly the same… This feel is more prominent if you run with lower power settings on the wheel as it is easier to move the wheel off center with minimal effort. You can also add more centering feel with toe in your car set-up as it will not allow the car to wonder as much before applying a little force.

Thanks @bsohn
I hadn’t thought of adjusting toe-in but, makes total sense. I use Friction to tighten center-feel and I had it somewhere above 20% with iRacing, and it didn’t seem to have any positive affect. It actually increased the on/off feeling in the free play around center.

I’ll keep experimenting with suggestions, thanks again.

Anyone else with the same issue. SC1 user, latest iracing build has killed all the dynamics in the wheel. Running over curbs, don’t feel any bumps through the wheel??? Zeroed out the new smoothing, anything else need to be adjusted in game?
