Its intention is to make FFB loop more stable to eliminate oscillation and to allow to use less damping and inertia filters. Any other changes in feel from that filter are accidental and will likely be eliminated in future firmware releases if possible.
What should we be aiming for with this filter? 20%? 5%? is more better or not?
Aim for stability/no oscillation…setting it to high in relation to other filters can cause oscillatory behaviour. I am generally running between 8-12% here.
Hey wondering if anyone can help me out. I deleted my profile that worked for most GT3’s, I’ve set up a new one that feels great for the Z4 and 488 but the Merc feels terrible. The slightest input and it spins. The Audi is even worse! Feels like it’s aquaplaning. I’ve tried my best to figure these two cars out but Can’t get them to work. Now I’m 100% there are smarter DD users in here who can help me out…please. It’s the Ultimate base
Yes, I have the same feeling since the patch this week, hopefully it will be sorted.
Can I ask… Why so little steering angle? It seems so far from being realistic… (and for me incredibly difficult to drive )
I just got my SC2 and took the Bakkerud settings. They feel quite awesome and the FFB is very detailed. But one thing is very odd. (Its not every time, more like 80%) when I hit curbs or ride alongside them (with the wheel onto it) it kinda makes a scratching noise? What is that? The sound is really annoying…
I had the same issue with my DD1 and there it was some kind of friction simulating filter…(FEI to 0 got rid of the problem)
Okay Update:
It seems to come direct out of the Base and can clearly be heared when driving with an GT3 (for example) halfside on grass - thatll give some kind of highfrequent rumble ffb. Horrible while driving.
Its affected by the Force Reconstruction Filter, but even with 10 its still there (but not that often).
I have the SImracingbay Mount and its directly mounted onto my motedis S-Dream Rig…
That doesn’t sound right at all, I’d make a video and send it to your reseller or GD.
I just tested it again and even asked a friend if he has the same problem. He has. Literally the same.
He said that is absolutely normal and caused by the bearings…
Here is a vid: https://youtu.be/z-d7JiUBfiw
It’s quite hard to hear and not very loud.
For a 1500€ base for me that’s unacceptable. I don’t play with headsets and sound is not too loud. So I notice it every freaking second.
Is there anything I can do?
Kinda disappointed right now and that makes me regret selling my DD1…
It is audible noise from motor coils that is cause by slight noise of the current going into the motor coils. Simucube 2 torque controller and current driver is quite tightly tuned for optimal FFB feel. It is a compromise between crips FFB feel and very quiet motor. Target is that the audible signal would be barely audible when driver has speakers on, and that there would not be anything that the driver would be able to feel by his hands. It appears your use case with speakers rather than headphones compared with low volume is just a case where the added audible noise is more than expected.
There might be added optimization of the audible noise via added filtering in future firmware updates.
Don’t stress. I have that the same but it’s 5 times louder
Thanks @Mika
I found another thread where this was considered normal. As normal as this may be I know have to decide if I want to mess with the FFB and make it less noisy (any tips would be much appreciated) or having a noisy base that disturbs me in-game… not what in was hoping when spending that amount of money.
Is this problem iRacing exclusive?
Thanks!
As suggested in another Post I found the Slew Rate to be a/the key. When I set it to 0.1 the freakish noise is gone.
Bakkeruk uses 0.9 in his setting, and the iR Profile uses “off” in its setting. So whats the actuall difference. When testing via “drive half-car over grass” I couldnt spot a difference. Either I am to stupid to feel it or I dont know what to search for in the FFB.
Well I’m using same settings since day one so j don’t know about that. I have headset and I’m not paying attention to that
Somewhere i watch list of gt3 cars, with they wheel rotation. I think it was racedepartment, so on all cars it was 540-720 degrees. Plus i dont like alot wheel rotation, but iRacing dont care, and game callibrate wheel byself. Any way, im use this degrees more then 9 months. Now im start useing 900 degrees, but i cant feel any significant difference.
Has anyone got any decent true drive settings for Dirt Sprintcars on iRacing?
Thank you
can someone help please with SC2 Pro settings for iRacing (GTE/ GT3) cars? i am new to SC2, not sure where to start. thank you all for your help!
Brion, can you post two charts. Simple x y plots that show the effect of changing the iRacing MAX FORCE level vs changing specific output.
What I’m trying to understand is, does changing specific output scale forces equally across the FFB spectrum? Does changing MAX FORCE say lower, non linearly scale the forces hence losing fidelity at low end?
Otherwise I don’t immediately see the difference.
