Skipped/delayed inputs from Simucube Wireless Wheel

Since i have well separated usb cable and antenna on the left from power cable on the right the problem seems to have disappeared

My antenna never touched any cables, and i got misshifts sometimes. For now i tried to separate SC2 usb-cable from any other cables, so it wont touch anything power-related, need to test it. Unfortunately in my apartment there is no grounding at all, so I cant do anything regarding grounding. I can try to revise my cable-management - parts of PSU cables touching alluminium rig, maybe its related in someway

All electrical outlets are grounded. That is why you can buy a grounding plug and plug into the wall. Then connect the wire cable clip to your rig and the grounding plug.

Not all outlets are grounded, especially in older homes in some parts of the world  USA with 120V system comes to mind.

Radiator from central heating is a ground you can use. The hearing system should be grounded as a whole.

Still no more missed shifts on either Ascher or Precision Sim Engineering wireless wheels with my above changes.

Yes, unfortunately

I’ve heard all my life that you NEVER should use heating radiator as grounding. Its very dangerous

@Mika hello, I am evaluating the purchase of the wireless SRB GT3 wheel but after these disconnection problems maybe it is better that I give up, since I also have the simucube 2 pro without antenna (first version) and this could make the situation worse in my opinion, or am I wrong?

My heating system is connected to an earth stake and the power is secured with an earth leakage circuit braker. Safe I would say and a clean ground.

@Picia71 I have the SRB GT3 wheel and a first batch base with no antenna.

I know this isn’t any guarantee for you but I can say that I haven’t had a single loss of connection and the signal strength seems to be very consistent, usually around 70% - 90%

thanks 1000 info. and for the problems mentioned above
in general the wheel as it is? solid? defects?

How often do you use the wheel? Have you changed the battery yet?

I haven’t been using it that much lately, probably a couple of hours per week at most. I’ve not had any reason to change the battery but it looks quite an easy job to do if need be.

I ask because I only had issues with the original batteries, since changing to a diffrent brand I have yet to have any another issue.

Thanks for the tip. I did see your post that linked to the ‘Tyrone’ branded batteries although they are proving difficult for me to find in the UK.

I would like to keep a backup and the ‘Saft’ branded ones pop up quite high in searches so I’ll probably pick up one of those. I’m not sure if they are as good though.

Hey All,
The missed shifts came back in both my wireless wheels. When it happened I alt-tab out of sim ans check the usb devices. Not only was there no input coming from wheel buttons / shifter but also a couple other of my usb devices like the button box also were not registering input. So that leads me to believe maybe it was a Win10 issues all along. The SC2 and wheel receiver for the Precision Sim Engineering wheel all connect direct to PC while the buttons box via a powered usb hub. That makes me think the root hub in Win10 stopped but some usb devices were still working. Very odd.

I have turned off the possibility for Win10 to power off anything at the root hub. Let’s see what that does.

Thanks for the updated info @John_Something

It might be helpful to Mika and GD in the future if others experiencing these random disconnections report their exact USB connection method as you have done to help narrow things down.

Can you post the debug?

So you are not using a Simucube Wireless Wheel?

I have used or use both the Ascher and Cube controls wireless wheels and also have my HE ultimate pedals and my rig grounded and my wheel still misses shifts or the shifters stop working for a few seconds every so often for no reason
