Ic7 voltage regulator L7987L exploded

A while ago, I went back to using my Simucube 1, but suddenly I lost FFB. Thinking it might be the power cable, I unplugged and replugged it, and that’s when I noticed a burning smell.
Upon opening it, I found that the L7987L component had blown. When it was removed, some PCB traces were accidentally damaged (unfortunately by a friend with no prior experience).
The issue is that I can’t find the schematic or wiring diagram to restore the missing traces. I even took it to a repair shop, but they told me they couldn’t fix it without the board’s schematic.

While consulting ChatGPT about a replacement for the L7987L component, I was told that an alternative could be the LMR16030. Is this true? I’m looking for a replacement since the L7987L is not available here in Argentina.

Unfortunately the LMR16030 is unsuitable as a replacement. It has different amount of pins.

Specifically this post has the layout of the board near the regulator. Should be enough to repair the board if traces are damaged:

In addition, when looking at the images you posted: C33 and C47 in your picture are both 100 nF capacitors in C0603 package with at least 16 V voltage rating. Those should be readily available.

In addition it will be a good idea to try to figure out why the regulator exploded like that. The cause may very well be the power supply.
