Electrical type noise through the wheel

This has only just started happening on latest fw etc. Happens in all games, runs fine for a while then all of a sudden I get a kind of electrical interference type effect though the wheel. Force feedback is unaffected. Power cycling returns feeling to normal. Could it be the latest fw causing this? How do I roll back to a previous version?

Quick update when I turn off all filers in config tool the noise goes away, if i turn up the filters the noise becomes very loud. Its like a vibration through the shaft. Oh and the center desktop spring stopped working to.

I have found the coulprit it was the custom ffb file for Ams2 reinstall the original and now no more noise/vibration.

I spoke too soon noise came back in rf2 and Ams2. Rolled back to previous fw swapped usb ports. It seems to happen when I put a bit of holding force into a corner. Could it be a power supply issue?

Did you also roll back the IONI firmware?

I only rolled back one version to 1.39 so ioni fw is the same. I will roll back a few versions so I can install an older ioni fw then see if that cure’s the problem.

There were no FFB related changes in the latest releases, so if you see any change in them, it is likely the game that causes it.

Update. Rolled back fw on ioni no change noise reappeared after a lap in Ams2 and rf2. I was not convinced it is a simucube problem so I checked my USB power states in device manager and I uncheck allow window to sleep the device. Did 20 laps in Ams2 and no noise so far, so hopefully it was a usb suspend problem.

Problem has returned ffb is fine for a while then when I hold a long corner I get the electrical noise back. If I quit the game and just turn the wheel it sounds like a squeak, if I increase damping then the squeak becomes louder even without moving the wheel. In granite no faults are showing. Any ideas what it could be?

Thanks. I can replicate the noise my holding the wheel just past the bumpstop ends its normal for a few seconds then the noise starts. If I add any filters the noise gets louder and the vibrations get stronger too.

I just tightened all the screws on the power/emergency stop green connector at the back of simucube. So far holding it against the bump stop for a few minutes either side and NO noise, motor was warm though.
Could it just have been a loose powder connection?
Will do a few laps later see if it stays fixed.

Keep monitoring the issue and report back if tightening connectors solved it. First time I’ve seen/heard such noise from a motor.

The noise/feeling is back, seems to start when I hold a corner at say >90 degrees I can feel the motor pushing against me then the noise starts. Only way to get rid of it is to power cycle the motor. This happens in acc and ams2.

Also noticed noise goes away when all filters are 0%. It always happens only when I turn left? Any ideas mika.

Done some experimenting to try and track down the cause for this problem and I have come to the conclusion that my headphone amp and planar magnetic headphones are the cause of the problem. May be giving off EMI or some other interference. Turned my amp off and no problems for 2 hours. Will monitor the situation.

Sounds like ground loop. I have used some isolators on power amps in the past with great success. Hum-X is the brand I believe.

Still having problems with the noise happened tonight then went away for a bit then came back, anyone have any suggestions?
