Automobilista 2 - Simucube 2

Hi guys, do you think I am still in time to join the beta as a backer?
Can’t wait for the actual release

I like ffb and physics(especially physics). I wish iracing can have the same

you can. go to their site and enter the thread for early backing campaign. I bought it last night. only issue is you will not be able to enter reiza forums for beta development but all other stuff is there

Hi guys,
I have AMS2 Beta and something weird is happening with my Asher F28 wireless connection. I know that the title should not have anything to do with the wireless but anytime (seldom) I am on AMS2 i get the wheel disconnected…
It says that the battery is 3,4V with connectivity 100% but only removing the wheel and getting closer to the SC2 I get the connection again just to loose it after a while…
I haven’t had any issue so far with ACC which i mostly drive and iRacing (12h Sebring coming up!)
Shall i order a new battery ASAP or is it something related to AMS2 that can cause it???

The battery is not expensive thing to try if it solves the issue.
We will add a customized warning thing if this shows to be a common issue when these wheels hit the ~3.4V level.

thanks @Mika ordered a couple of batteries

Forget about AMS2, the battery was just dying. 3,4V was the limit for mine and then went 3,3V and ops. dead connection

Good you found it. Not a bad idea to have spares at home

I guess many like me have this in the back of their mind but continue to forget. It is easy find on-line but not that much on a physical shop during the weekend. I found mine at a Photographer/camera shop but there aren’t many alive unfortunately.

Yeah, it is a “specialist” battery but still very widely available especially in camera shops.

Amazon/Ebay maybe? .

Surprised it depleted so quickly.
Wasn’t estimated lifespan a couple of years or something?

What are your settings in AMS2?
I have a DD1 and it feels already good but in an oversteer situation the wheel pulls back to heavy to the center.

They started from scratch the tyre model? No they haven’t. Where did you get that information from? Reiza is using the Project Cars 2 engine, plain and simple. They’ve never mentioned anything else from what I’m aware. In fact, I don’t even know if Reiza have the rights/license to modify the Project Cars 2 engine (graphics engine, physics engine [including tyre model], sound engine, etc.).

From what I’m aware of, Reiza basically is like a good mod team but the game is still Project Cars 2. Reiza never mentioned they have changed coding of the Project Cars 2 physics engine (including tyre model). I don’t know if they even have the rights/license to change the Project Cars 2 physics.

This is also easily viewable from gameplay videos. Lots of Project Cars physics going on (and some dated stuff from the ISI engine still there too).

I use 100% ingame gain, fx 20. on Simucube I set around 30%-35% strenght, damping 2.10, friction 0.90. I use this way becouse it gave much better feeling of what car is doing than set strenght in ams.
@Spinelli mate from watching videos you cant judge games, try it and see how it feels. I played both pc2 in the past and ams2 now and its completly different game in terms of handling and physics. graphics are more polished on ams2 by default but again, driving the cars is very similat to ams1 which in my perspective is one of the best ffb/physics sim to date. I don`t try to tell what is good and what is not for someone but if you like the ffb of rfactor and ams2 you will gladly enjoy this. For me personally these games give most informative ffb and are most immersive. Try it, you will not regret

It seems most of your post is about FFB. I am not talking about FFB, I am talking about physics / vehicle behaviour. They are not the same. There are still unnatural aspects of grip and slip transitions in Project Cars physics engine and some others in ISI physics engine and those are easily visible in every AMS2 video (which makes sense because Reiza are using Project Cars 2 physics engine, they haven’t changed it to my knowledge).

Of course playing it is the best instead of videos but lots of things can also be noticed from videos especially how a vehicle is moving and acting/reacting.

I hope there are physics improvements from AMS1 because AMS1 is great and very fun but there are still some big physics issues in it (not Reiza’s fault, problems with ISI physics engine).

I will buy AMS2 because I buy almost all racing games/sims. I can have fun with all of them.

FFB with AMS2 with my DD1 is better now, but I am not satified. Especially when I am driving teh super V8. In a oversteer situation the wheel feels reversed. When that "problem’’ is solved AMS2 is perfect!

Not played around too much with the last beta (beta 3 ) , but the small playtime I had with a few friends indicated that some old PC2 multiplayer bugs where still present.
Like when the original host of the game leaves, then another player will take over as host, but can’t change car class. Will be a lot of critical eyes on this part of the experience in my club, as it hugely destroyed a fond memory of PC2, which was good game, but too bug ridden to be a good multiplayer.
SMS never acknowledged them, and didn’t care, despite many of it cause issues even with more profiled leagues like AOR.

Having played all betas up to the recent beta 4 I have still to come across a decent ffb setting for my Simucube 2 Pro.
Is there anyone using the custom ffb file of AMS2 already and if so, what did you change?
Although I would love to enjoy AMS2 for what it should be, currently both the physics and ffb are killing it for me.
