Unable to open device in bootloader mode

Hi all,

I’ve just tried to update my True Drive software from 2021.12 to 2023.2. The software update appeared to work fine (I see the newer version in the banner). The software then informed me of a Firmware update which I was expecting. I then get :

Trying to find device in normal mode…
Connected to Simucube 2 Pro
Sending command to start in firmware update mode.

The base is unresponsive throughout.

I have reverted back to 2021.12, and everything is fine. I have one of the first SC2 Pros - but I assume I’m correct in thinking that these can run on the latest firmware?

Do I need to do a sequential software update? I’ve never done this before, I’ve usually just jumped to the latest available.

Hi,

For some reason, either the command to go to bootloader mode does not get through to the device, or, your computer isn’t able to give access to the device in bootloader mode. Is there a Simucube 2 in Firmware Upgrade Mode available in Windows Devices list (instead of Simucube 2 Pro) at any point in this process?

This is displayed in “Other devices”.

It disappears once I revert back to the previous version.

Sorted.

From the Device Manager, I opted to update driver. It said it was successful - but I don’t think it really did anything. The next time I loaded the True Drive software, the firmware update worked fine. thanks Mika!!

I absolutely love the service you guys provide :heart_eyes: - I’d love you more if you shipped me an Active Pedal though :grinning:

It might be indeed that a rare-to-be-hit bug in the bootloader got you this time. This is even visible from the device name, that has the capitalized CUBE on it, and later on we changed that.
