Trouble updating to the newest firmware

The installed firmware did not pass device’s verification (possible checksum error or icompatible FW)! Flashing failed. (Error data for customer support: ID1=4291, Faultbits=a0).
Flashing firmware failed. Power off, reconnect and try again. Ensure that firmware file is compatible with your device.

I tried to install the 1.060 version, the software couldn’t update my firmware, ‘‘Couldn’t connect to ioni reconnecting…’’ appears. I used granity to installed the 1.072 version firmware successfully, but when I tried to install the 1.081 manually through granity after intallation, this error pops up and the intallation is failed.

You are not the first to report this, however we haven’t been able to reproduce the issue. Where and when was the system bought from?

I bought it used from someone at 2022.

Will I still be able to use the 360hz from IRacing directly by editing the ini file to 1?

No, since that requires the latest Simucube 1 firmware which requires the latest IONI firmware.

Used from someone… but bought originally from, and when…?

I just asked the seller, he says he bought it used as well…

I have upgraded to 22bit encoder from someone else at 2023 and he switched some components, reflashed the motherboard if I remembered correctly. He told me that he could solve this problem (Upgrade to 1.081) by switching the ioni board. Since I’m studying abroad, I will have to do this later this year.

(He was able to integrate the whole simucube system into the mige motor, basically the exterior looks the same as simucube 2)

We have indeed one previous case that was solved with IONI replacement. Maybe there is some possiblity that the flash memory on the STM microcontroller fails in a way that is not detected by our software exactly correctly and thus the incompatible firmware error pops up, instead of more descriptive flash failure error.

Just to add that you can purchase it by contacting our support.

We do not know about any retailers or resellers that would have had stock of IONI since many years now.
