Simucube Tuner and Simucube 2 - questions and feedback

That is still available via the profile menu.

Ftr just upgraded from 24.7 to Tuner 2.6.0. Pretty smooth. Had a lot of anxiety finding where all the old features were now placed but for what I used they do all seem to be there.

Tuner 2.6.0 is much smoother with almost no oscillations and good details. Now i can use it without filters (damping, friction. inertia) and feel very nice.:+1:

thats odd since there has been no FFB changes at all.

How comes I only have 2.5.13 version available?

How do I find 2.6.0?

My sincerest apologies. Life caught up with me and I completely forgot about this. I will create the video containing 3 different ideas which may interest you/Simucube and upload it within the next few days. Sorry again.

I found 2.6.0 on the website under the Downloads section

Regarding Simucube Active Pedal (Pro):

The last point on the force curve graph in Tuner 2.6.1 (and also in a 2.5.x version) is always lower than the max for you set it to.

Eg. I set max force to 100 Kg but the actual max force on the graph - the last little orange square - is set to 90.2 Kg.

Even if I hit the linear button to reset the force curve graph to linear, the max force only goes to 90.2 Kg.

I played with pedal travel, preload, input mapping, etc., the graph always maxes out at around 10% less than the max force you actually set unless you manually move the last orange box all the way up to the top of the graph but that then messes up the graph’s curve (ie. non-linear).

Filters seem broken when searching profiles. For eg. I select “Rally” and 4 profiles come up but only 1 of those profiles is associated with the “Rally” filter therefore only that 1 profile should be appearing and not the other 3.

Filters should remain in the profile list so you can quickly go back and forth between viewing/testing a profile and selecting another one within the same filter/s instead of having to re-select the filter/s every time.

The position-to-force adjustment slider is missing. This is my biggest concern.

You right Mika.
The oscillations are more or less present depending on the car. Tested on LMU.
All the best.

Bug 1
Simucube Tuner 2.6.1 just erased my Active Pedal Profile I spent a week working on.

I spent a week tuning my Active Pedal Pro’s braking. I then make some changes, save it under a new name (original profile “F1C”, new profile “F1C (2)” - without the quotes) and the original profile is gone and completely over-written by the new profile.

I then repeat the procedure to verify the glitch. I make some changes, save it under “F1C (3)” and, again, the previous profile “F1C (2)” is gone.

Very frustrating. I spent 1 week tuning these settings, not to mention I had very important notes in the profile description which are now gone.

Bug 2 (not a big deal)
If you power on the Simucube 2 Pro (wheel) and it was powered off previously (say from using it before) the wheel will not work unless you quit and re-start Simucube Tuner.

I’m not sure if this also happens with the Active Pedal. I tend to leave it on since the power button is difficult to get to.

I never experienced “bug 1” nor “bug 2” with Simucube True Drive.

Did you just edit the name on the profile and click save, or did you click save as -button?

I clicked “save” instead of “save as”. I understand that “save” normally overwrites the previous if you don’t change the name (this is also standard in Windows), however, I clearly changed the “Profile Name” so I was under the impression that wouldn’t overwrite the old profile since it’s a new name.

Anyways, I now understand - my fault. Thanks for the reply.

Can you elaborate the bug 2 above a bit? I mean, it does not work in Tuner, or what actually is happening?

Say you’re finished racing for a bit. You decide to power off the wheel while Tuner is still open (usually minimized to system tray). Whenever you go back to playing again and power the wheel back on, there will be no response from the Tuner software. Everything in the wheel screen in Tuner will be frozen from the last moment the wheel was powered off (steering angle, etc.). Also, the FFB (while turning the wheel at the desktop) will be different from the last profile that should be active (the wheel’s probably in it’s default desktop mode rather than the last used/open profile).

You also don’t get the 3 Tuner beeps that usually follow the 3 power beeps. You only get the 3 power beeps. If you then power cycle the wheel - making sure the power-on occurs while the Tuner window is open (ie. not minimized) - you’ll also get the 3 Tuner beeps and everything then seems to work as it should.

This also happened with the previous version of Tuner.

Not a huge deal. You just have to make sure to close and re-open Tuner whenever you power the wheel back on. You can close and re-open Tuner either before or after powering the wheel back on, either seems to work just fine.

EDIT: As long as the Tuner window is open (ie. not minimized to system tray) when the wheel is powered back on (regardless if the window was opened or minimized while the wheel was powered off), the issue does not occur. The issue only occurs if powering the wheel back on while Tuner is minimized.

This is good data, maybe there is a glitch in this special case. We will have a look when our team is back at work after the holiday.

Small update (“EDIT” above). It doesn’t matter if Tuner window is open or minimized when it’s closed, that doesn’t negatively affect anything. What matters is whether the window is open or minimized when the wheel is powered back on.

Just to further clarify my last few messages:

If you accidentally power-on the wheel while Tuner is minimized and therefore the “glitch” occurs, either of the following seems to get things fully working again:

  • close & re-open Tuner (without power cycling the wheel)
  • power cycling the wheel (without closing & re-opening Tuner) as long as the Tuner window is open during the wheel’s power-on phase

I’ve actually been having this exact same issue for a few months now. I just have not had the time to report it due to work. I’ve just been opening and fully shutting down Tuner when needed.

May be the way Simagic organized their UI can give Simucube devs some ideas, because honestly with all due respect in the current state it’s extremely hard to navigate and very user unfriendly with settings spread all over the place sometimes hidden in unexpected places. Too large screen elements and font is another issue (could be dpi scaling) with little content taking almost the whole screen.
Another thing is labels location, they are under sliders which can be confusing to which control they belong (caught myself adjusting wrong things few times), typically captions are placed either on the left to the input controls or at the top to create stronger association, extra spacing can help too as label from control at the top is at the same distance as bottom label which add to confusion which caption described which slider.

Suggestion: Would be nice to be able to right click the traybar icon and be able to load recently used profiles from there
