SimuCUBE Open Source Firmware Development Update Thread 2

Can someone explain how the new force reduction filter works and for which sims it should/could be configured. Also, how the profile settings would change when using that filter?

Thanks Mika and team, update went very smoothly! UI looks lovely and crisp in higher res. Retained existing profile, although damping/friction/interia show as 10x what they were before, I assume thatā€™s what you refer to with Simucube2 scaling? Grateful for any guidance on what a decent starting point for static force reduction might be (large Mige Biss-C), for use in iRacing. Thanks again!

Some people like static force reduction filter, some people do not. I do not use it at all myself. Feel free to experiment with it - it will be quite obvious what it does when you try it.

Some people like static force reduction filter, some people do not. It does not affect the operation of any other filters.

Hi Mika,

Updated last night. No issues so far, thanks for the hard work!

Not had much time for testing, but i did have a hour on Dirt Rally 2.0 and all is good, many thanks for all the great work.

After several iRacing laps the update seems to work perfectly well. Forgive any ignorance, but static force reduction filter seems to reduce ffb sustained load on high grip cornering? I can certainly see why itā€™s a ā€œmarmiteā€ thing, personally dont like at anything over ~10% and will quite likely keep it off.

But love the innovation and all the hard work bringing the update to SC1 owners!

Not sure what happen when I updated to this firmware, I now get under voltage fault on initializing never had that before, can some one point me in the right direction on how to roll back the firmware thanks.

thats unfortunate, likely a change in IONI firmware causes that. Can you show settings from Granity?

I when back to 10710 IONI firmware in granity but it doesnā€™t seem to stay there. I would like to get back to the old firmware if thatā€™s possible, ivā€™e been extremely happy with my FFB I didnā€™t need anything more.
Thanks for you help Mika

yeah, IONI 1.7.10 does not have compible API to use new wheel angle reading mode and Static Force Reduction filter. 1.7.16 is the minimum supported.

Show your settings from Granity.

Iā€™ve only tested SC1-v1.0.22 with AMS2 so far but, no issues to report at all, force output is back to normal levels. Nice work. :slightly_smiling_face:

Nothing obvious there. Can you try to lower the continuous current limit a bit to see if it helps?

Iā€™m not getting the under voltage fault at the moment with the new firmware, but in iRacing the ffb seem a lot harsher, the jolts seem to be over done, has anyone else felt this or is it just my imagination?

Great job @Mika, for me all is okā€¦

Tested so far with iRacing and rFactor2 and everything is working great. Thanks for all of the time and effort put into this release.

Just updated and jumped right into a competitive race in ACC, no issues so far.

I do have one gripe regarding the new bumpstop settings though. I prefer to set up the bumpstop so that it begins to kick in exactly at the end of the rotation range. It seems like the bumpstop range setting only determines where the bumpstop reaches maximum force and there is no indication where the bumpstop force actually begins. It seems like the start of the bumpstop varies depending on how hard you set it to be, so adjusting the bumpstop to my preference requires a lot of trial and error.

I would prefer if the bumpstop range setting instead determines where the bumpstop kicks in. This seems more intuitive to configure in my opinion and makes it much easier to achieve the desired result in my case.

Thanks for the feedback! we are considering changing it.

update went without any problems. Tried ACC and rF2 and both worked very well. Even better then before but that could well be placebo effect

I tried the upgrade route getting to .50.4d and when I fired up the new version 1.0.22 I had it work, update and now when I open the software it waits about 10 seconds and closes.

Is there a document on how to do a fresh installation?

Granity is showing an option for a SimpleMotion USB (FT230X Basic UART) connection but searching to find my drive.

I am using Granity 1.15.1

Thanks,
Steve
