Simucube 2 True Drive software feedback thread

BTW- it would be fine if it was like active cruise control auto steering pilot, where you have to keep your hands on the steering wheel every 10secs or so (in my car). And it resets the timer or a notification comes up that put your hands on wheel or auto steering is about to go off.

In this case moving the wheel every now and then does not reset standby timer, I think its looking for I put from sim to do that

Standby mode is completely internal to the device and does not affect the USB interface at all.

But it affects functions in sim like iRacing, its a side effect

It does not, at least not on my computer. Perhaps there is a bug that happens, and I will look into it.

Like I mentioned all my usb interfaces were alive, but sim iracing had paused all input functions as it could not recognize steering drive anymore

You can ignore my next comment as I normally donā€™t make such comments.

But Nanny functions are not for people who buy direct drive wheels, have them sign a one time waiver if you want. But this standby mode feature does nothing but cause a nuisance.

In standby mode, wheel position and button inputs are reported as normal to the PC. Simulators do not have any visibility of there being a standby mode or not.

But if something else is happening, we need to look into it as it is not the intended behavior. Iā€™m actually re-testing this right now.

OK,

wheel just went to standby mode. It is still turning normally in True Drive. Also in iRacingā€™s Options, wheel is turning as normal.

Can you test with any function mapped to button box, like black box functions?

Those are the ones that stopped working.

I can make a video when I am later today.

Agin, this was a surprise to me

I just connected my wireless wheel while the standby mode was active, and everything works - I have an encoder set to next/previous black box and that works, also the shifting indicator works in Options screen.

Perhaps you have an unrelated issue where Windows is putting the device in USB suspend mode. Check if you have USB selective suspend enabled in Windows power options.

Easy to say that, but as I mentioned that was the first thing I checked all usb devices were functional, only iracing not not registering any input.

Perhaps it is something that can only be tested in spotting mode In iRacing.

I know its a unique situation, but I will test and make a video

I actually did the test in spotting mode as my team mate is now driving the 6h Le Mans.

Will test again, but all button boxes worked if TD was not in standby, I still believe its an iracing issue.

Will keep an eye on it

Hi @Mika

Since the Slew Rate Limit (Nm/ms) has no noticeable effect above 1.00, it could make sense to change the slider in this way.

Hi, there are still some of us who prefer non-sloped response of non-slewed signalā€¦

So if Mika can see his way open to do this later, he can see if he can give it a ā€˜zoom-scaleā€™ if going under 1.00, to do what you want. But I would hate to see this top-end scaling narrowed considerablyā€¦

Cheers,
Beano

Hi @Mika, so sorry to hear about your illness, hope you are getting better.
Quick question on USB Settings group, are they functional and what do they affect, canā€™t find anything in manual?

A few times my SC2 Pro refused to get out of sleep mode, showing that e-stop is engaged even after reengaging it a few times, with no axis being active. Suspect it has something to do with USB Suspend mode, not sure what is the best way to set it as itā€™s already disabled in Windows Power options, should I disable power management for SimuCube device in Device Manager too or these settings will do. What exactly ā€œSuspend supportā€ and ā€œRecovery supportā€ mean?

Thank you

Hi, last weekend i updated from td 10 to 13 and with all respect but why you invented the torque standby mode? itā€™s super anoying to me so want to know if i can turn it off?
My main Sim is rf2 and where the ffb was all i could imagine with version 10 but now it it feels just understeering like if the is to much static force reduction so a no deal to me. is there a way to reverd back the firmware?

Question for you guys that have been keeping your firmware up to date.

Have you noticed any real improvements to the actual FFB? That would be the only reason that would push me into upgrading from 1.0.7

Iā€™ve sat back and watched most of you doing each upgrade as it arrives and I canā€™t remember seeing many posts about upgrades to the FFB feel.

Iā€™m mainly being struck by seeing users getting irritated by added features that take over control and canā€™t be switched off or reversed.

So, if you had the choice, would you roll back to the earlier versions?

Iā€™m not posting this as a jab at GD as Iā€™m well aware that Mika is putting everything heā€™s got into refining TD for us. I just want to get a feel for what most users would do if they could.

It was by userā€™s request - they found the beeping every 1 minute very annoying, so we got rid of the beeping while still maintaining same level of operational safety.
