Simucube 2 True Drive development roadmap

The only and most complicated not understanded filter is this one.

And only complicated by the “Hz” value, because who is capable of translate Hz to ffb signal?
Otherwise is a simple freq filter

Too much motor/servo technicalities and no clues about driving feelings

Hi, meanwhile, thank you for all you do to improve the software. I wish I could express my personal thoughts, personally I chose simucube because it gives me the opportunity to set what I want, when I want. Removing some features in my opinion would be a wrong step. I find it right to simplify some things, or at least make them easier to learn, therefore it would be nice to have 2 sections, one for those who want something simple, and a second section dedicated to experts, to those who want to try their hand at finding their own settings, to who loves to experiment. It would be a good and fair thing to extend the manual, which I guarantee is too minimalist in having to explain the function of each individual filter or function. Sure that the decisions made by you will be the best to make this product grow more and more, I want to greet you and wish you all good work and good development!

Hello,

I think that new customer have to consider this filter ( Legacy ) because is very useful on last gen OSW/sc1 but i use it in a new way that alow me to ( fine tune ) the balance between slew rate, Recon, total strength and smoth out specific freq. It’s basicly a parametric single band eq that works well and make the difference in some circumstances.

to find what/when/if filter give you… you have to experiment and maximize it and find a way to ( apply it ) based on your findings.

If you struggle to find what a filter do… take your time and experiment. FFB is 75% subjective and 25% Technical/objective.

Bye.

Thank you for the explanation.

So, if i understand it right, it works like a Notch EQ?

If so, it’s so much easier to handle with it now.

(Notch EQ)

yes, only notch based on Q / quality ( factor.

Like an EQ try to use it for multipliers first base 2hz - 4 hz - 8 hz - 16 hz but sometime try in the middle like 4 and 8 middle is 6hz or 8 and 16 the middle is 12 Hz ( note:12Hz is 2x of 6Hz )… it’s basicly a try for Harmonics. This filter is probably not intended to use in this way but i use it in this way because work. This filter have beautiful side effect. Try to ask Mika and i think that he can confirm that. ( remember to NOT over use it )

yes. in this way 6 years of feelings and development cant be excluded and the platform become the most customizable and professional grade in the business.
Edit:
With Recon 1 and Recon 2 i’m refer to “Recon V1 and Recon V2” not the 1,2,3,4,5 etc value.

I would love if in future updates we can assign button location for bluetooth button boxes. Being that Ascher Racing steering wheels and button boxes doesn’t mirror each other properly.

Couple of days of holiday and found this threat with a lot of feelings and emotions…

I’m happy with development of new software and features, but documentation and explanation of features within the software would be a very nice addition. (not mouse over, but mouse click)
And Yes, the current software has way to many features for John Doe, my iRacing team buddy as no clue what he is doing!
But as a techie I love to play and tune everything to my own liking.

As I have access to 2 SC2 Pro’s I would upgrade 1 with the new software, but probably leave the other on the old software to compare for a while.

Keep up the good work @Mika :call_me_hand:t2:

As someone that uses the default profiles are they are, I’m happy more settings are being automatically sorted, all the sliders etc mean nothing really to me other than the FFB amount. If these newer settings improve the overall feel in game and more them more realistic then I’m all for it.

Have you never been curious enough to move a slider to see what difference it makes to the FFB?

Barry’s review of a competitor product is out. There are quite strong messages in that about complexity of tuning options…

hi Mika, I’ve seen the review yesterday, from what I understand in their tuning utility there are the “standard” filters as damping, friction, inertia and spring, but for each of them you need to choose if you want to use them as a system effect, a game effect or both at the same time : does that mean that “game effect” is the same as direct inputs as in TD? Barry was saying like “setting it this way allows the wheel to use the ingame telemetry data”, but is that right?

They have only damping and smoothing activated for now.
These game or device effect does its own to the complexity of the software so i guess its not a big difference to the complexity of True Drive in the end.

Please, do not open this box again mika, a simple mode is already available for the users which don’t want to get to know how things work and don’t want to fiddle with options.

But these variety of options is also a unique selling point for the sc2 platform, which is in the moment already known as the high end platform in the Direct Drive area.

Go your own path, don’t copy the ways of your competitors

yes, those are directinput effects and users can select if they want to use constantly operating device filters, game commanded filters or both.

Looks like, with those simplistic options, Barry wasn´t able to get rid of the notchy feeling.
Filter at 1 looks perfect but he talks about not smooth enough; Smoothing at 2 we can clearly “see” that the notchy is still there (because not happy 100%) but he loses all control over the vehicle because Smoothing filter is filtering too much.

Dont fall in the same hole, please! If everyone jumps out the window, it doesn’t mean it’s okay

Barry is no dobut a good guy, and he just wants to please everyone but i think this makes him very kind to brands and leaves the viewers to make their minds up watching the reviews. Its disappointing he doesn’t stand them against each other so much.

One thing I noticed in the review was no BEEPS.

Set yourself up for that one:smile::smile:

I actually like his approach very much, he tears his stuff down as much as he can or as much as he is allowed to and let his viewers think for their own.

Every comparing of brands and things would unavoidable lead to the usual trench warfare of people who owns or likes hardware from one company or another.

And, in the end, it would be nothing else than an opinion of Barry which couldn’t checked if it is really his opinion or it is manipulated by the company who provide him the test object.

Youtube influencer are having already a very bad reputation (for good reason) and wouldn’t like to see his reviews going down that path
