Hi @Mika
I have been struggling for long time finding wireless Bluetooth receiver and I have another Simucube 1 wheel thats in need of both transmitter and receiver.
But the original part has been discontinued many years ago
I am now seeking alternative options as currently not able to use any button wheels or flappy paddles.
I saw that there is a upgraded Simucube Wireless Wheel 2 chip
https://granitedevices.com/wiki/Simucube_Wireless_Wheel_2
- Would this be an option to use on existing hardware
- is this a receiver or transmitter
- does Simucube Wireless Wheel 2 chip need anything else to make it work
- I have a Simucube 1 wheel with BLU Transmitter already installed can this work with it?
- I have a Simucube 1 wheel with no transmitter - what parts can be ordered to connect
Thank You
There is no alternative for the Simucube 1 receiver module. It was end-of-lifed 3 years ago. It was either Ascher or Simracing Bay who bought the last batch / remaining stock of the modules we had.
There is the updated wheel side button plate module that you linked. It features much less DIY friendly setup with M.2 connector to the main wheel PCB. Also it has support for much more buttons and also analog inputs, which were not a feature on the first wheel side module.
Support for wheels that are made with this new module was not added to Simucube 1 firmware due to expected very low sales numbers for the wheels for that, since there were much more Simucube 2 wheel bases already in use at the time the product was released. Simucube 2 support was added in 2021.9 release.
From my understanding
Would I need to convert the two wheels to the simucube 2 model board linked
https://granitedevices.com/wiki/Simucube_Wireless_Wheel_2
Then I can wireless connect both wheels to my simucube 1 original board with the new chip added?
If yes could you assist in best place I can order for 3 wheels complete kit
If it works with my current simucube 1 set up
Thanks @Mika
No, since Simucube 1 does not have firmware support for the wheels that utilize the new wheel module.
If we were to ever add support, which is very very very unlikely, it would be possible to do it with the original receiver module on the Simucube 1.
Hi @Mika
Understood thanks for clarifying
I currently own 10 simucube 1 systems and all racing well.
Iām currently in the position of have x2 simucube 1 wheel without wireless wheels
What options could you suggest that enable me to use the flappy paddles and button box with the x2 simucube 1 wheels
As currently there not in use as need solution to enable them to function with the buttons
Thank you
One option is to purchase the Simucube Link Hub. That contains the Simucube Wireless Wheel receiver.

Nice suggestion, Im not too familiar with this but seems viable option
Wheel No.1 - Has Simucube 1 transmitter on wheel - No receiver on board
Wheel No.2 - Has no transmitter on wheel - No receiver on board
In order for both wheel to work
a. can I use one simucube link hub to link both wheels and get them both enable the buttons to work.
b. If a wheel does not have the transmitter what can I do now to get it working with simucube hub
Thanks for your knowledge
Thank You @Mika
You need the transmitter on the wheel, then you can use it via the Simucube Wireless Wheel receiver unit.
You would modify the wheel in such way that there is the transmitter unit, battery, power switch etc.
