I have an Augury Simulations SC1 that I acquired for free. It does currently work but obviously it’s a pretty old piece of kit so not sure how long it will last… I did do a quote for replacement IONI boards if possible I know RFQ is 10 so just wanted to see…
Anyways, what are some other items I should look out for that may be potentially bad aside from the obvious bulging caps and all that.
For the IONI, we sell single units if you contact our support and troubleshooting determines the issue is with the IONI. This is to keep simracers racing!
For Simucube 1 board itself,
the regenerative braking resistor circuitry might be faulty → they are easy to determine and suitable components to replace with are mentioned in our wiki
the STM32F407 microcontroller is rather sensitive sometimes and its USB hardware can just die internally → microcontroller can be replaced however it requires skilled electronics rework to replace.
We don’t have any Simucube 1 spares as such anymore.
These are things I will definitely look out for. Is it possible to get a simucube 1 board built? Would it possible to have a simucube board 1 built using JLCPCB or something similar just in case something happens… or can you send me a picture of the components and viable replacements that I could resolder if they go bad? I don’t know how viable that is for anything
I would like to get a new board built. Is the viable solutions to keeping this alive. I know it’s most likely not of interest in simucube but at the present time I like my setup and if a board is to be built cheaper than a new wheel base of course that is an option I would like to do
As far as I know, several core component on the Simucube 1 are not available anymore, so having more built would require some rework from us to redo the schematics and layout.
I didnt know if it was something as simple as having like a gerber file, bom and pick and place csv and giving it to jlcpcb and having them create new ones. Honestly probably not the most effecient business model but hey always worth a shot…If this dies eventually , which i hope doesn’t for quite a long time, hopefully ill be able to troubleshoot enough that its just replacing a component or something like that
