Frequent "Overvelocity Fault" on Simucube 2 Pro

Dear Simucube Support Team,

I am reaching out regarding a recurring issue with my Simucube 2 Pro. During driving sessions, I frequently encounter an “Overvelocity Fault” with Location ID: 140403, as shown in the attached screenshot. Despite adjusting some parameters, the error continues to appear, limiting the driving experience.

I am also attaching a screenshot of my current profile settings, including values for “Torque bandwidth limit,” “Slew Rate Limit,” and other operating parameters, in case they might provide additional insight. I have tried to maintain a balanced profile, but it seems that some configuration is causing the motor to exceed its speed limits in certain driving situations.

I would kindly like to ask if there are any recommended settings to avoid this type of error or if you foresee a firmware update that could mitigate or resolve the issue permanently. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or guidance to improve system stability.

Thank you in advance for your attention and for any support you may provide. I am available to provide further details or to perform tests if needed.

Best regards,
Eugenio Ciullo

Hi,

The overvelocity fault limit is indeed a firmware parameter. It is triggered in very very fast movements. I can’t off-hand remember what the limit was set at, but it was something like 6 revolutions per second which is faster than human hands can rotate.

What kind of driving situation you get this? Is it drifting or something else?

Hi Mika,

Thank you for the quick response.

I experience the overvelocity issue on both iRacing and Assetto Corsa. It occurs during drifting sessions on Assetto Corsa, as well as during rally or dirt road racing on iRacing.

Would it be possible to update the firmware to resolve this issue?

Thank you for your attention.

Best regards,
Eugenio Ciullo

It is a safety limit. I will see what the parameter is now, and then change it, if it lower than I think.

Fault limit is set at 6.56 rev/s over 0.1 seconds. I think it is set about right, its quite an extreme rotation speed.

What kind of wheel are you using to achieve this kind of rotation rate?

Hi Mika,

I’m using a SABELT SW-833 wheel.

Would it be possible to raise this limit?

Thank you for your assistance!

Best regards,
Eugenio Ciullo

I think we need to analyze the safety things, as this is a safety limit for completely runaway wheel protection. I can’t promise right now to change it in near term for official release, but I may contact you to see how much more we would need to raise the limit for your use case.
