To be honest, I’ve been unhappy with the FFB (Simucube 2 Pro / always using the latest driver) for years. At some point, something changed and I’ve been on a constant hunt for that brilliant FFB I remembered. I’ve really tried everything (including downgrading to Windows 10, etc.). I tested all sorts of setups and, unfortunately, I never managed to get it right again. The FFB was always somehow disconnected/spongy and I didn’t feel a direct connection with the car. In my desperation, I asked the AI today. The AI suggested I try version 2020.10. What can I say; this is it!!! A whole new world! How on earth did they ‘lose/give up’ that brilliant FFB? I’ll stick with 2020.10 for as long as I can, and if it stops working (a new simulation that isn’t supported or something similar), I’ll probably have to try a different brand ![]()
I just want to add: I am quite experienced Sim-Racer (currently #22 WW on Raceroom).
Hello everyone,
I wonder if you might be right, for a year, a year and a half… give or take, I can’t stand the metallic feedback from the game ffb on my SC2 Pro, as well as the engine noise, so much so that now I set the frequency to 470hrz, I’ve found a comfortable and relaxing way to play.
I use Tuner and don’t dare go back to True Drive for fear of losing all my game profiles, and it has to be said that the automatic loading of profiles for each game and car is really great, but I’d like to get rid of the doubt that the Tuner software has become bad, or that my SC2 has a problem, or simply that I’ve got used to it and can’t stand its unwanted and unrealistic parasites any more.
Not really surpised to read that. Don’t worry, i’ve never upgrade too since 2021.9 version of True which is still my favorite, i’ve never give a single try to simucube tuner. You like True Drive ?..keep True drive and just play. It will always work. ![]()
I hate to bring the bearer of bad news, but we intend to bring down the True Drive Paddock this year as most of the Simucube 2 users have migrated to Tuner.
Hi Mika,
Does this mean online profiles will no longer be available or is there something more?
It is the online profiles, including your own. We are closely monitoring the situation once we launch Tuner 3.1 with Paddock integration this coming week, and it makes no sense to keep the old Paddock up and running if there is like less than 10 daily users.
Thanks for your replay! No problem from my side. I have never used the online profiles.
Hello everyone, I’ve logged back into the forum after a long time and what a pleasant surprise this post is! My Simucube 2 Sport feels exactly as you’ve described it for some time now… metallic FFB, super crisp. I was actually thinking of selling my Simucube, but I went back to the 2021 version and, oh magic, everything is just as I remembered it. The ACC FFB is incredible with the same profile without touching anything. I think that since they released the new rebuild filter, Simucube has lost that greatness. The difference in FFB compared to a 5-year-old firmware is truly amazing.
Are you still able to rollback to 2021.9 if you’re on the latest driver and firmware?
If you’re always on TrueDrive, yes i think buy if you’re on Tuner i’m not sure.
Tuner will always require its own firmware release since the handling of wireless wheels is completely different, among other smaller changes between firmware and PC software communications.
I find it strange that we would get these reports so long after the 2021 releases.
Hi Mika, I don’t use a wireless wheel. When I downloaded TrueDrive again, the firmware was updated (or downgraded in this case), and I can assure you that the force feedback (FFB) is nowhere near as good as in Turner Software. Maybe it’s a matter of taste, but the FFB details seem infinitely better to me personally in TrueDrive. You only need to take a lap around Monza, for example, in ACC mode and go over the curbs; there’s just no comparison. Cheers.
So which version of True Drive did you install? Normal FFB is the same in 2024.7 release as in any Tuner release.
I installed version 2021.11 +hotfix… just to pick an older version and try it out, I could have picked any other one.
What I think is happening is that lately the force feedback has become too direct and strong at peak force. For example, the asphalt feels very noisy. In contrast, with previous versions, everything is smoother; you have more feel for the car and what’s happening to it. For example, in Automobilista mode, it’s unbearable; it’s like riding my mountain bike downhill. I honestly wouldn’t have thought of going back to such old versions. I’ve spent a lot of time tweaking the tuner parameters, lowering the slew rate, torque band switch, static force—everything I can think of to make it smoother—and that noise is still there. I know this is very personal, but reading other opinions, I now know it wasn’t just me. Best regards, and I hope this helps
Hmm, I downgraded to 2021 True Drive and spent a good hour in iRacing testing True Drive again, and I think the Tuner FFB is far superior in iRacing.
Maybe it’s different for ACC, but True Drive felt too juddery compared to Tuner.
Also, I far prefer the interface in Tuner. It’s nicer and easier to tune I think.
So I’m back on the latest firmware and software of Tuner again.
