Automobilista 2 - Simucube 2

i just use the custom basic file that comnes shipped with the game, it’s the best i have come across, the default and default plus feel too slidey and all customs don’t feel good to me, the basic unedited custom file that ships with the game is steering rack only and feel much better

isn’t that just the default FFB file

no it’s not, it’s pure steering rack, the defaults have extra effects i don’t like, here’s a link to forum blog post from the developers about the ffb

" * CUSTOM as shipped with the game is just barebones steering torque acting around steering (kingpin) axis. No road vibration feedback, no damping, no friction - this profile however is editable by a user via the ffb_custom_settings.txt file located in Documents/AMS2/. Please note this is NOT customizing any of the Default profiles above, but rather allowing users to write their own FFB script using LISP-like syntax."

Very handy to know this, thank you

Hello everyone,

Also using the default Custom.txt file here, everything else feels synthetic to me. i did remove the low force boost, by setting:

(output ( lfb output 0.0))

This is probably for non DD wheels (just guessing).

There is some oscillating on certain cars, when standing still in the pits (but not when driving).
Has anyone found a way to reduce ffb when standing still…?

Been tweaking a couple of TD profile, one for 310mm wheel to suit most(ish) cars

and another one just for formula with 270mm wheel.

(having hard time understanding the tyres in AMS2 to get a proper feel in long races…btw are wet tyres kinda broken?)

Very nice to see that someone is explicitly taking the specs of the steering wheel into consideration when doing a preset.
Weight, size and quality of the steering wheel is really important. When I touch AMS 2 the next time I’ll try these settings. Thanks for sharing!

I’m curious what TD settings you are using with the barebones custom AMS2 file: Do you mind sharing?

Default Custom profile is actually really nice, very lively and reactive, just need some extra damping in TD, but other than that I can finally find some sense in what is going on with the car. May sound like blasphemy but it comes closer to AC feeling with some cars.
Default+ is the worst, overprocessed with overexaggerated understeer grip loss.
Default is using some dynamic friction/damping that feels unnatural as it turns on and off at some unexpected times, not as bad as Default+ though.
Latest customs from Karsten and Kuku are just not my cup of tea, same problem as with Default+, too much post processing taking away the purity of physics generated steering rack feedback.

Latest pre-release build feels a lot better than before, I agree. Also it has finally the option to select a Simucube2 profile with all Sport/Pro/Ultimate options

IIRC, they also solved the Axis-detection issues with SimuCube bases.

I totally agree with this! After fiddling around for probably 40+ hours with various FFB settings, I’ve found that the default “custom” file that is auto-generated by AMS2 is the best overall when damping is added via True Drive. Your observations about the other FFB presets match my own observations as well. I just wish that the default “custom” file didn’t lose track feel when suspension is compressed: Running the V10 Gen2 around Spa for instance, and the steering goes numb except for static resistance through Eau Rouge. Special thanks to @Whip for suggesting the default “custom” profile. I hadn’t thought to try it out since installing AMS2 years ago.

@SuperMonaco_GP and/or @morOSWer: Do either of you know what exactly was added with the ability to select the SC2 under profiles? Besides the axis detection issue being solved that is.

No, I don’t know if there are any specific changes beyond that.

nope don’t know either, but changelog should be available as soon as the update gets public release

hello guys. :grinning:
With the leatest release tonight, i saw that Reiza added simucube 1/2/sport/pro/ultimate profiles.
Whay does it changes exactly ?

Nothing, perhaps easier calibration.

what happened with default FFb ? it was my favorite flavor and now it’s broken…uggly sensation !!

Problem solved . Profiles must be initialized from scratch again ans all works fine

@M-Bimmer does your Default AMS2 profile use the Default FBB or the Default Custom? Thanks. Setting up my wheel base whilst I await my Rim and Pedals, and decided to use your work as a base.
