NuScorpii's Custom FFB - Gunboat Diplomat [LOU] v1.02 Gunboat Diplomat [LOU] is a Special Circumstances ship mind / craft from the novel The Player of Games by Iain M. Banks Its name is a play on the gunboat diplomacy concept See below for install and usage instructions. V1.02 Update * Added some damping to prevent wild oscillations at standstill due to the lack of damping in AMS2 0.9.6 * Added an output smoothing variable output_smoothing which can be increased to smooth high frequency details if they are too harsh V1.01 Update: * Updated code to find static weight in a reliable way. Gives a more constant value and stops odd changes in ffb weight. * Tweaked variables for slightly lower engine vibrations and road noise, better brake feel. * Updated rack_damping_scale from 0.9.6 release. V1.0 Features: * Load based rack force amplification - Increases the rack force applied when the load on the front wheels increases such as high down force cars and when using heavy braking. - Control over micro and macro details (road texture and small bumps) - Wheel load and brake influence on rack easily controllable * The strength of the effects below are affected by the FX slider on the Force Feedback page in game * Gyroscopic forces - Simulates the increased resistance to turning the wheels at high speeds - Helps to stabilise steering at high speeds - Reduce oscillation of FFB at speeds * Kerb effects - Added kerb effect that more closely matches the audio kerb effect * Scrub effect - Adds subtle vibrations when tyres start to lose grip e.g. braking, understeer, oversteer, wheel spin - Front and rear scrub effects independently controllable * Engine vibration - Controls for how strong force is at rest and at speed * No fake road effects, all road texture is from the actual track Installation: 1) Copy the ffb_custom_settings.txt file to "This PC > Documents > Automobilista 2". 2) Restart Automobilista 2 Usage: To use the custom ffb, in Automobilista 2 go to OPTIONS > CONTROLS > FORCE FEEDBACK and change the TYPE to Custom LFB might need to be set a little lower than before. FX should be ok at 50 To change the strength of the effects individually first exit Automobilista 2 and then edit the below variables in the file: Micro details: (micro_details 0.4) Range 0.0 - 1.0 Controls the level of fine road texture / noise Macro details: (macro_details 0.3) Range 0.0 - 1.0 Controls the level of small bumps felt Rack load: (rack_load 0.8) Range 0.0 - 1.0 Controls the amount the rack force is amplified due to wheel load Brake load: (brake_load 0.5) Range 0.0 - 1.0 Controls the amount the rack force is amplified due to braking (also affected by rack load) Gyroscopic effect: (gyro_scale 0.8) Range 0.0 - 1.0 Controls the amount of gyro damping applied to steering as speed increases Kerb effect: (kerb_scale 0.3) Range 0.0 - 1.0 Controls the kerb level Scrub effect: (scrub_scale 1.0) Range 0.0 - 1.0 Controls the overall strength of the scrub effect Engine vibration effect: (engine_scale_slow 1.0) (engine_scale_fast 0.1) Range 0.0 - 2.0 Controls the strength of the engine vibrations. Strength of the engine vibration is reduced as speed increases. To reduce or increase the engine vibration effect at speed alter engine_scale_fast
