Latest Firmware

I recently upgraded to Tuner and to the latest firmware. It’s hard for me to believe that nothing has changed in the FFB. Basically, rF2 and LMU are ruined for me. In those two sims, I feel like a lot of detail has disappeared and I don’t feel a connection to the road anymore. Everything now feels overly smooth and dull.

And sometimes there’s a weird understeer effect where the steering becomes light and it feels like the front of the car is gliding over the road surface.

I disabled the reconstruction filter. It may have improved things a bit, but the feel is still very far from what it was with the previous firmware.

Is it just me?

I find it difficult to believe that there would be any FFB related changes since there were none in the firmware, except for the addition of the torque linearity filter.

Are you sure you are using the same ffb settings profile?

Yes, same old profiles and in-game settings. At some point I’ll try reverting to True Drive.

Also, I didn’t notice any difference in AC Evo.

Mika,

To make sure I wasn’t imagining things, I reverted to the last version of True Drive. It did the firmware downgrade as expected. I didn’t touch the profiles or in-game settings. I just did a quick test in LMU. Honestly, the difference is night and day. It’s like two different wheelbases.

With Tuner and the latest frimware, there’s just no feeling of being connected to the road, and the FFB is much smoother and much less detailed. LMU just feels like a game where you guide the car around the track. With True Drive, it feels like driving a car (or at least like what I remember from driving a race car on track). I don’t know how else to put it.

Maybe I missed something when I installed Tuner?

There were few non-conclusive reports in feeback thread, check out there.
Examples.

I’ve personally reverted back to True Drive until UI and conflicting with SimHub UDP is fixed or made optional so can’t comment first hand on Tuner impact on FFB.

Thanks. In a way it’s comforting that I’m not the only one.

We haven’t been able to repeat any of the issues at the office. We even made a firmware parameter dump tool to check if Tuner still was putting wrong parameters in to the device since there were a lot of bugs in that in the first published Tuner 2.5 beta releases.

But no issues found.

Are you sure you are not in fact using some profile that might have been imported to Tuner using a beta release from earlier than the official public release?

And we hope that you would make a support ticket via Simucube.com for any of the issues raised so there can be some visibility of how common the issues are.

I’ll try Tuner again, with a new profile from scratch. Tomorrow if I have time.

I looked for the page to create a support ticket, but I couldn’t find it.

In any case, I’m relieved to know that I can easily go back to what I like.
