Automobilista 2 - Simucube 2

Much of the improvements in the latest release are not so much about ffb development but, the revisions made to tires since v1.5. That process takes a lot of time, so it’s not like Reiza simply could have easily improved that release by fixing the ffb.

The grippy turn-in you mention is directly tied to braking during the turn-in phase. You’ll notice that brake pressure has a major influence on that aspect in AMS2. While it is certainly possible it could be somewhat exaggerated, it’s probably a matter better left to drivers with RL experience racing cars on slicks. At any rate, I find that careful brake-modulation is key to maintaining control during corner entry. For those not using load-cell brakes, I imagine that may magnify the issue.

These are good news. After the last update I hoped into AMS2, but was disappointed again. I’m so into AC that everything else feels strange in the beginning.

A word about oversteering:
You won’t believe me how many times I wanted to throw away the steering wheel because of the chicane at Spa or the Remus turn in Spielberg. Maybe I could recover from it by driving a bit AMS2, who knows.

Can you share your AC TD settings and in CM if possible?

I would try some good custom ffb profile, wondering how can i reach a rf2 style ffb in AMS2. Which TD profile is best suited to the rfuktor file?

I’m afraid you won’t get a Rf2 FFB, and neither an AC FFB. AMS2 has its own DNA, just like every other game. If you expect TD to improve FFB quality, then you “mistreat” it, although in a harmless way (sure no case for the ICC, and I also doubt a claim at ECHR would be successful).

Ideal is when TD delivers the FFB signal the way it is. It can’t enhance the signal’s quality in the way you want/wish.

Coming from RF2 (more than 2000 hours) and was never satisfied with AMS2 FFB until i used the custom from Danielkart

You can try the Atmos custom file by Stakonov (FFB ATMOS 4.1 without yaw). It ramps up SAT forces more progressively like rF2 ffb does. I had to lower some of the other effects (in file) to find a good balance that worked for me but, I’m currently using Karsten’s Experimental version.

I’m running at 25NM, recon 1, no other filters at all. Normally I use them for other titles but this one doesn’t need it.
I am using Danielkart’s which IMO is closest to rF2.

I ended up changing a line in his config file so that the gain in the game functions linearly, his profile at default requires gain at 62 in game. (Look for gain2 in the file and change it to 0.62)
I use 35 in game to my liking.

you can maybe feel good the FFB, but the physics not, it’s absolutly not professional like rFactor 2 or the next LMU, since I use rFactor 2 I’m so much better or I can train for racing in the real life, with AMS2, there is nothing, really nothing, no learning skill for a real racing comparaison…Honestly, it feels worst than Forza 8…

I can completely echo this sentiment, it’s actually more challenging and rewarding driving in FM2023 than in power drifting AMS2.

What do we think about this new custom FFB https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYBGesmG-YA? Compared it quickly with the latest Rfuktor file, seems a bit more information from the tyres. In game FX to 0.

Using Simucube 2 with AMS2 is like throwing kaviar at the pigs.

It is not that the FFB itself is not realistic… it is simply the driving behaviour/physics. Absolutely no one can drift an LMP2 card 180 degrees through a corner - yet that is exactly what you can do in AMS2 (same with formula cars). Spent for almost any content in AMS2 but leave it for good now. Also 1.6 did not really improves anything except a bit more narrow tire grip window.

it’s just a game, like all other one

Hey, have you guys tried this as your settings file for custom FFB?

NAME: Rack_Force

(rack (/ arm_force M_max_force_at_rack))
(output rack)
(output (* output gain))
(histogram output)

that’s it. I ran the lotus 79 at mosport with gain of 40, no effects, damping at 3. Best feel I’ve had so far amongst all the profiles Ive tried.

I’ve almost given up on AMS2 because of the ffb so I’ll give anything a try at this point

You may have just saved AMS2 for me

I was on Kukus_rFuktor_Ultimate_Evo_v1.6.6.9 before this and was increasingly unhappy with the ffb compared to LMU, ACE, ACC, GTR2, etc. But this is brilliant. It’s just steering rack forces. I didn’t like Default or Default+ either.

There was some unintelligible forces, as well, that I was able to tune out with the notch filter somewhere around 200hz (see screenshots).

I’m also now able to reduce the Reconstruction Filter which is always a win.

Before, I was having trouble feeling like I was always on the verge of losing the backend and that meant I had a hard time catching actual oversteer or slides. Now it feels much calmer and much more natural.

So far tested on a McLaren 720S GT3 Evo (GT3 Gen 2) and a Formula Retro Gen 2.

Went back to Kukus_rFuktor_Ultimate_Evo_v1.6.6.9 with no other changes to see if it was the AMS2 or SimuCube tuner changes and while it is much quieter (having tuned out unintelligible forces before) it’s quite overdamped. I think it’s quite unnecessary to be running it when I can run the simpler custom ffb and have it just feel good right out of the box.

Areas for improvement: Tires feel a little soft, would be nice to get a stiffer feel.

Thank you!

Glad this is working for you. I run a simucube 1, I use rec 3 and no friciton/damping/intertia…at least not yet as I havent tried to change the feel. I have 5 in static force reduction. No notch. Torque bandwidth I leave unlimited.

I used RFuktor before this as well as another that I now dont recall. I couldnt go back to it after this rack based FFB. Purely subjective opinion. I also have a motion rig and bass shakers so I get feedback there that I dont need at the wheel.

I come from iRacing mainly and i enjoyed the rack forces on that sim. I also liked rFactor feel but disliked AC no matter how many times I tried even with all the modifications. So this gives you a sense of what I prefer. I am having the most fun in AMS2 especially in VR.

I used to run user-made custom ffb but, recently tried the Default (became my favorite for some time). Now I’m using the new Default+ ffb and loving it. The FFB matches my motion FX really well and everything feels very in sync. AMS2 ffb across most cars seems to be stable in regard to the amount of in-game Damping, I no longer need to make adjustments per car.

Most of my problem seems to have been the unintelligible forces around 200hz

Once I took those out with the notch filter even Default and Default+ feels decent
